MITA Tourism Fair is more than a normal Travel Fair . It about a passion in exploring domestic destination and helping the local tourism industries to expand a great platform for entrepreneurs to showcase the local product .. This is a NATIONAL CALL and CAMPAIGN for all Malaysian

“There are just so many things to do, see, buy and eat in Malaysia and visitors can pick and choose according to what interests them at the event,” said the fair’s organising chairman and Mita secretary general Adam Kamal.

There will be 650 booths showcasing the best that every state in the country has to offer such as places of interest including off-the-beaten-track attractions, culture, arts and crafts, and food.

Except for Perlis, Penang and Negri Sembilan, all the other states as well as the Federal Territory of Labuan are part of Mita Travel Fair 2017.

Adam said low-cost airline AirAsia has agreed to offer flight tickets exclusively during the fair period with rates starting at RM39 to destinations in Malaysia.

There is even more good news as registered visitors stand a chance to win lucky draw prizes which include hotel stays, theme park vouchers and airline tickets. Those who purchase travel packages are entitled to participate in a “buyer’s contest” that will see a lucky few winning attractive prizes. The main prize for the latter is a cruise ship package worth RM11,000.

“You won’t go hungry either as 40 food trucks serving various types of food are stationed outside MIECC. This mobile concept, which evolved from our permanent hawker centres, is being promoted as a tourism product,” he said.

Adam said those who enjoy shopping will like the Arts and Crafts section of the fair, an area which comprises 40 booths. Authentic and mostly handmade items such as woven mengkuang mats and handpainted batik from all over the country are available for sale.

“To give the fair a carnival atmosphere, performances such as traditional dances, sape (a string instrument from the lute family) and wayang kulit (shadow play) are part of the schedule. Meet-and— greet sessions with celebrities such as actress Sasqia Dahuri, DJ Azura Pedora and Royce Sa’yan are also on the cards. Some of these celebrities will belt out their songs as well as two original tunes specially composed for the event,” he said.

As a run-up to the three-day fair, Mita organised an online contest which in the first week offered holiday packages to Langkawi and Cherating, while in the second week RM888 was presented to lucky winners in conjunction with Chinese New Year.

“For the latest contest, which ends this Sunday, we are offering a holiday package for four people worth RM2,000. For more information, log on to our Facebook page Mita Travel Fair.”

In conjunction with the 50th anniversary of Asean, Mita has also allocated a section for Asean countries this year.

“This is to help in the cross-selling of Asean packages by Malaysian travel agents in collaboration with their Asean counterparts. The fair will have 100 foreign travel agents from all of the Asean countries as well as from China, Africa and the Middle East. We received good support from AirAsia and Royal Jordanian Airlines which flew them in,” Adam said.
